Hey all, I wrote this review of Jeffery Deaver’s ‘The Broken Window’ in August last year. It’s the only one I’ve got up at the moment but I’ve been considering writing more about other books I’ve read and those that I’ll read in the future as I figured they might be an interesting aspect to incorporate into this blog. The Broken Window by Jeffery Deaver

Jeffery Deaver’s The Broken Window is not your standard ‘Big Brother is always watching’ narrative. The plot follows an investigation fronted by Lincoln Rhyme and Amelia Sachs as they try to catch a man who is described by one character as ‘God’. Whilst this book touches on the notion of the government watching civilians (a topic of discussion which is becoming evermore prominent in today’s society both in narratives and reality) the focus is mainly on a private company which is shrouded in secrecy and run by a man who is portrayed as a modern day Hitler. The crime thriller raises many issues which can be assimilated with real life and although the novel is about a murder investigation there is something for everyone with author Deaver being hailed by the Daily Telegraph as “the most creative, skilled and intriguing thriller writer in the world.” The Broken Window is the kind of book you sit down with at 9pm for a bit of light reading before bed only to look up and discover it’s 3am. Highly recommended.
